Helpful vs. Unhelpful Ways to Give Feedback
We learn most when someone else pays attention to what’s working within us and asks us to cultivate it. So when giving feedback, focus on what someone is doing well, and if you need to give be critical, make sure you’re specific and highlight your experience of the events.

Spend your time on these in proportions that are suitable for you (Owl is showing a smart-looking presentation with coloured dots and charts). - buy, Owl, how could I achieve all these? - do it on your own. Sometimes, communication via email is sought so there's a record of what was said. There's been many times where something was said in a conversation that the other person no longer remembers or denies having happened. I prefer email so I have what was said in writing.

This is a similar exercise that I see a lot. I find it intriguing but ultimately useless. The reason is that all of the listed SLAs are important. Only a small minority of people could say that any one of these factors are not an important area in their life. Who can say that physiological needs or friends are not part of a good life? Ultimately we find that we want everything and that could be the problem. But the issue is not which is more important than the other. Perhaps only the upper portion of the chart is useful where we could be more mindful of what we are lacking in each dimension

2024 May13 - HBR- The Explainer RUclips- The Truth About Blockchain. Disclaimer: The comments are mine alone. I take full responsibility). Comment A- The World of the Two Vehicles- Learning (7th) and Realization (8th) There were many questions thrown the last time we shared. One of them was, “Why did Siddhartha left Heaven’s Palace?” the dream life-station of all. We asserted, he left because the World of Heaven was incapable of providing him an answer to a troubling question. He embarked on a fruitful quest that eventually led others to call him Sakyamuni. The enlightened one of the Sakya tribe. If the World of Heaven isn’t the ideal life-station, then what is the ideal life-station? Questions, questions. Apparently, while within “Heaven’s walls”, Siddhartha already had misgivings about its shortcomings. Doubts and questions. The Two Vehicles or the Worlds of Learning and Realization are swimming in doubts and questions. So even though Siddhartha was living inside Heaven’s Walls, he was actually in the Worlds of the Two Vehicles already. For purposes of reference, the Two Vehicles are the Learning (7th World) and Realization (8th World). A webpage described these worlds as follows: The world of voice-hearers (7th World) is the life state attained by those who gain a partial awakening through hearing the Buddha’s teachings, while the world of cause-awakened ones (8th World) refers to the life state attained by those who gain a partial awakening through their own observations and effort. (please see the source link: www.sokaglobal.org/resources/study-materials/buddhist-concepts/ten-worlds.html) The 7th refers to a student. While the 8th refers to a teacher. However, prior to Sakyamuni, there was no Buddha to learn from. Data indicates, there were only six top (non-Buddhist) ascetic master’s to learn from. And all operating outside the palace. If Siddhartha needs the answer, he must seek them outside. Thus while a prince in “Heaven”, he was manifesting the characteristics of a “Two Vehicles” person. His leaving just punctuated that fact. Happiness drive from physical benefits and/or material possessions (including Kingship) were inadequate to ensnare persons of the Two Vehicles. This is their power and ascendancy over the Worlds of Humanity and Heaven. If material possessions are non-factors to their happiness, then what is the nature of their suffering and happiness? From data, it appears, unanswered questions make them suffer. Answers, make them happy. Let’s assume, Siddhartha was “suffering” from an unanswered question. “Partial awakening” was mentioned in the term describing the 8th World- Realization. Is “partial awakening” a form of suffering? What inflicted this suffering? Let’s go back to the Four Gates Story. It talks about impermanence. “The fact that all things in this world are transient is perfectly clear to us. Is this not because the worlds of the two vehicles are present in the human world?” - Nichiren Daishonin (WND-1, 358). In one gate, Siddhartha saw a child born. In another, he saw an adult. In a third, he saw a sickly old person. And last, he saw a dead person. Four gates/events. Birth. Adult. Sickness. Death. If we treat each event, as a stand-alone phase or existence from the others, then “childhood is complete existence”. Endless books describing the world of childhood abound. Adulthood is another “existence”. A whole new world by itself. So too sickness and death. Yet… no existence last. A child doesn’t stay as a child forever. Nor an adult, etc. All transient. All temporary. This principle applies to all things and life. Be it a human being, a planet, a universe. The principle of Temporary Existence. Now let us reverse the term “existences” and use “phases” instead. A dead person was once a sick person. The phase of sickness. A sick person was once an adult. The adult phase. An adult, a child once. They are connected, like a blockchain, because generally all persons, go through these phases. Following that blockchain connectedness, one can assume that “child” once went through a “prior“death. A prior existence. So these phases are eternal. And it seems, they’re all embedded already within person’s life. As one phase surface, the previous one subsides. But without the previous one, the upcoming one can’t stand alone. Each non-substantial without the other. The principle of non-substantiality and Dependent Origination. These principles, in their most simplified explanation are pillars of Buddhism. And they’re all contained in the Four Gates story. Are these principles useful? Many a man were made wealthy and powerful by harnessing their promise or their exceptions. Let me elaborate. From life to death then life again then death. The binary 1 and 0. On, off, on, off. And the computer chips that harnesses those “On and Off” switches (represented by 1 and 0, by life, death) runs our world now. Commercial cryogenics too is an offshoot of the joys of clinging to life, a promise to overcome (an exemption) the principle of Temporary Existence. These eternal phases of life are a spiral moving from life to death to life to death. In Biochemistry, the structure of the human DNA is a spiral. What’s fascinating is this “manusya”, this thinking self, saw this approximately 3,000 years ago. Powerful principles. Freeing and fulfilling to others. For many, “dwelling” on these life-condition (the states of the Two Vehicles) is already the ultra mega happiness destination. Powerful concepts like these abound in these Worlds. But to Sakyamuni, the Two Vehicles are a source of suffering. Why? It is a source of suffering, because the insights there were just a “partial answer”. Seeing what it can deliver once completed, he sought to “complete” it. To master it. To harness its power. Why? Because he vowed,… let me repeat that… he vowed… he… VOWED…. to end humanity’s suffering forever. The Four Gates Story and Siddhartha’s actions afterwards revealed his heart. The heart of Buddhism. And this explains, why, Sakyamuni reprimanded in the strongest possible terms, for decades, those disciples who “dwelt” there. The Two Vehicles worlds. “It’s a burning house. Get out of it”. But that is the subject of the next comment. So from a shallow standpoint, the Four Gates Story is a story of the Two Vehicles. But from the perspective of Siddhartha’s vow to end Humanity’s suffering triggered by it, it is therefore a story of the Worlds of the Bodhisattva and Buddhahood and not of the Two Vehicles. For now, a recap. It appears, the four lower worlds (Hell, Hunger, Animality, Anger), want to escape, abuse, destroy the external world. On the contrary, Humanity and Heaven, accepts that world, co-exist with it. It is what it is. For Learning and Realization, the external world fascinates them. Endlessly. See you on the next comment.

During this time, I got used to how convenient everything is in a pocket version. Recently I decided to try another platform, but without the indicators that I was used to, it turned out to be very inconvenient.

I wasn't exactly taught how to small talk when I was younger neither of my parents were very social people. Then I started an apprenticeship with my now boss who is a small talk master and a boomer (the best kind of small talkers), it is truly an art

Do you communicate the strategy to your employees?

Yeah nah, small talk is useless in personal communication. It's a tool in the first place. A tool that lets you kill some time in between the boring routine if you don't know what it is really for. It's a person-less way of interacting with people through a kind of script. It could even be considered a toy that is funny to play with but it doesn't bring more real people into your life. Small talk is mostly used in a corporate environment as a mean to get along with people well and give a good impression about yourself, no more. But gotta admit, your colleagues will be crazy about you. There is no life and longevity to small talk that would make it fun or practical to use to make the bonds you would really like to save and support.

So many people have strategies for this life but few have strategies for the afterlife. What does lie ahead for us? Is there more after this? Because if there isn't, if this is all there is, that is depressing. Comments?
